RoboCup@Work

Introduction:

RoboCup@Work is a new competition in RoboCup that targets the use of robots in work-related scenarios.

It aims to foster research and development, enabling the  use of innovative mobile robots equipped with advanced manipulators for current and future industrial applications. In this context, robots cooperate with human workers for complex tasks, ranging from manufacturing, automation, and parts handling up to general logistics.

Rules:

The rulebook for 2018 is available here. This rulebook is the same as the official RoboCup2018 @work rules. The following page describes some core elements of it.

The competition tasks come directly from the list of scientific and industrial challenges. The actual tasks are defined as a set of so-called tests. A competition is organized in two stages of increasing complexity. Each stage consists of a number of tests.

Stage 1
Basic Navigation Test can the robots navigate well in their environment, i.e. in a goal-oriented, autonomous, robust, and safe way
Basic Manipulation Test demonstrate basic manipulation capabilities by the robots, like grasping, turning, or placing an object
Basic Transportation Test assess the ability of the robots for combined navigation and manipulation tasks
Stage 2
Conveyor Belt Test grasp objects from a running conveyor belt
Precision Placement Test drop objects precisely into cavities
Finals
